There can be few medical conditions which can leave its sufferers so debilitated such as renal failure.
Walk into a renal ward, meet a few patients and in a short time you will understand the significant impact renal failure has on the individual‘s ability to conduct normal life.
Founded by the late Rita Madhok - known professionally as Darlinda, the psychic/astrologer - this charity exists to support research projects and enhance patient comfort at the Glasgow Western Infirmary‘s Renal Unit.
Since its launch in 1987 the charity has raised more than £900,000 - with the funds boosting highly acclaimed research work into renal issues. The research work has been published in medical journals and has been internationally acclaimed.
Money raised has also helped improve conditions for patients on renal dialysis with the purchase of laptops, TV/DVD players, improved seating, home dialysis units etc.
The charity organises a number of events throughout the year but its main fundraiser is the Dynasty Ball, held each November.
